Affiliate marketing is as simple as putting Google Adsense ads in the sidebar of your blog.
You get accepted into an affiliate program if your blog is good enough, they will give you a unique tracking link and possibly banners/other creatives, you make a commission when someone purchases through your link. Sometimes you get paid for clicks.
It's nothing like mlm, nearly every website you visit uses some form of affiliate marketing to make money.
I have CBD & Computer, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo etc & Lead Generating niche blogs, so every time I mention a product, I will link to that product using an affiliate link. Some programs pay me for clicks, others pay me a commission for sales.
It doesn't cost money to Join affiliate programs but some programs only want quality blogs promoting their products so it can take a while to approve your blog.
A good example of me doing affiliate marketing would be to write a step-by-step tutorial. I will go through the steps of the tutorial, mentioning which products I have used then link to them on Amazon . If someone purchases through my link, I make a small commission. It doesn't seem like I am selling a product, it's a tutorial but the whole point of writing the tutorial was to insert my affiliate links and hope that someone buys through me.
There are other forms of affiliate marketing where people go for the hard-sell but most of the time, affiliate marketing takes a softer approach. Anytime you see an ad in the sidebar of a website, it's affiliate marketing. Most tutorials, product reviews etc. that link to a product are forms of affiliate marketing.
